StoneNote offers an integrated approach to note-taking and media management, combining notes and videos within a single interface. Users can watch videos directly on the note page without the need for split screens, facilitating a more streamlined workflow. Capturing screenshots is straightforward, and the application automatically pauses videos when annotations begin. Additionally, it supports inserting video bookmarks and recognizing speech within videos for enhanced interactivity.

The handwriting experience is notably refined, thanks to a proprietary vector ink engine that delivers smooth, elegant, and precise writing. A variety of brushes—including fountain pen, ballpoint pen, and highlighter—are available, with easy customization of colors and sizes. The deep integration of Apple Pencil optimizes the experience for iPad users, ensuring accurate and responsive input.

StoneNote enables seamless synchronization of notes and videos through an embedded video player incorporated directly into the note interface. As users write or annotate, videos automatically pause to prevent disruptions. The application supports multiple playback modes, such as side-by-side, top-and-bottom split screens, or floating windows. Screenshots can be captured with a simple two-finger tap-and-drag gesture and inserted into notes effortlessly. It allows playback from local storage as well as online sources—with features for downloading and caching videos—and provides options to select subtitles and languages. Playback speed adjustment, video bookmarking, and speech recognition further enhance usability.

The platform facilitates the insertion of images and text through various methods including clicking, copying, or dragging. Users can resize, rotate, and crop images freely, while text can be customized with different fonts, sizes, and colors to suit specific needs.

Media importation is straightforward; documents such as PDFs and videos can be imported for annotation purposes. The note editor offers diverse stroke styles for writing and marking up content. Notes can be exported in multiple formats for sharing or backup.

Layered note functionality allows users to create multiple layers that can be edited independently without interference. Layers can be easily created or deleted, with options to hide or show layers at a click—facilitating complex editing workflows without complexity.

Editing tools include a lasso selection for moving, zooming, or modifying portions of notes, alongside an eraser tool designed for precise removal of strokes.

Organization features enable creation of folders with unlimited nesting levels for efficient management. Notes can be reorganized across folders as needed. Cloud synchronization via iCloud ensures that notes are consistent across all devices. Export capabilities support various formats for convenient sharing and archiving.
